Ministry Team

James McElroy was called into the ministry at the age of 15. Pastor James serves as the coordinator for the jail and prison ministry for the Church of God in North Mississippi. He accepted the call to pastor the Grenada Church of God in July of 2011. In October of 2014, he was elected by his peers to serve as chairman of the MS Church of God State Council. James and his wife Sherry of 30 years are the proud parents of 3 Children: Chris, Justin, and Baylee. 

Chris and Ashley received the positions of Youth Pastor in June of 2019. Since then the GCOG youth department has flourished, developed and expanded into what is now known as UNITED.The pair hold strong in teaching sound biblical doctrine that says there is freedom in Christ, validation in Christ and a genuine sense of belonging with Christ. They believe in encouraging their teens to preserve there God-given individuality and follow after Him whole-heartedly and confidently.

Seth and Monica have been in children’s ministry for over 20 years. They have a heart for this generation and know that God is going to pour out His Spirit on the children to walk in signs and wonders (Isaiah 8:18). Seth and Monica are ordained ministers in the Church of God. Monica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Crossroads Christian Bible College. Seth and Monica want to partner with parents in the discipleship of their children. They have one son, John Caleb and 11 great nieces and nephews that they have the role of grandparents with.

Ashley has long been a part of Grenada Church of God. She has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Delta State University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Kent State University. She served as the music director at Pleasant Hill COG in Carthage, MS for 3 years before returning to Grenada Church of God as the Worship Leader in 2010. 

Ashley is married to Jason Owen and together they have four children; Emma Claire, Levi, Jace and Jeremiah.

Stephanie was elected to serve in 2010 as church clerk. Since then her position has expanded to include secretarial roles and event planning. She is now Administrative Assistant at GCOG. Stephanie is married to Rev. Lee Hoop and has three children: Ashley, Marissa and Andrew, and two grandchildren: Atlas and Iris.
